In my opinion, it is one of the best horrors I've seen and one of the best in recent memory. I think the reason it worked so well, for me, is I didn't initially see it as a horror (even though I'd been told it was) and it doesn't play out as a horror. The violence wasn't gratuitous (in my opinion) and was very brief in comparison to mainstream horrors. Kill List is essentially about Jay's initiation into the death cult and his becoming their leader/Antichrist figure.
